The SBI feedback model is a tool to help provide feedback in a concise and specific manner, that encourages an objective take on any given situation.
Here’s how it can be applied:
- Situation: be specific about the situation that you’re providing feedback about. Describe where & what took place to provide clear context for your audience.
- Behaviour: describe how the person’s behaviour was during the situation. Be analytical and careful to not inject personal values or judgment, but instead be objective and factual about their actions.
- Impact: describe how your team member’s behaviour affected you, your team or the organization.
Remember to remove any hearsay comments about the scenario and be objective about the impact.
